Depression Condition
According to the observations at 12:30 pm MST today, the Well-Marked low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining the North Odisha-West Bengal Coast (India) has intensified into a depression. It is centered at about 375 nautical miles North- Northwest of Sittway (Myanmar), 35 nautical miles South-Southeast of Balasore and 45 nautical miles South-Southwest of Digha, India. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may cross North Odisha (India) between Chandbali and Digha close to the Balasore during next 24 hours.
It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the depression is coded as yellow stage.
Position of Depression, centre pressure and wind
The depression is located at Latitude 21.1 degree North and Longitude 87.2 degree East, centre pressure of depression is 998 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour at 12:30 pm MST today.
Next 24 hours forecast
It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may cross North Odisha (India) between Chandbali and Digha close to the Balasore during next 24 hours. The frequent squalls with rough to very rough seas are likely at times in off and along the Myanmar Coasts. The surface wind speed in squall may reach 35-40 miles per hour. The wave height will be about 11-14 feet off and along the Myanmar Coasts.

People should be aware of the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flights and irrigation dams.
