THE University of Cooperative and Management (Thanlyin) and the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), based in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on rural development and poverty reduction projects at a ceremony held at the university on 25 June.
In her address, Rector Dr Yi Yi Win stated, “This event marks a significant milestone for both organizations, reflecting our mutual trust, shared values, and our commitment to implementing goals related to education, research, capacity building, and sustainable development.”
She believes the signing establishes a foundation for sustainable cooperation, mutual learning, and shared success.
CIRDAP Director-General Dr P Chandra Shekara stated that both organizations will conduct joint research and publish findings to benefit Thanlyin University and universities across CIRDAP’s 15 member countries. Additionally, they plan to secure scholarships for Myanmar students.
The ceremony was attended by a CIRDAP delegation, the rector, pro-rectors, and heads of the university’s 14 departments. — MT/ZN
