THE domestic rice market is experiencing a slowdown during the rainy season, according to the Bayintnaung Commodity Wholesale Market in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region. It is usual that the trading of various rice, including premium quality and non-premium rice, is sluggish in the monsoon season.
“The domestic market faces a slump. Prices of non-premium rice varieties, including Aemahta, Manawthukha, and 90-day matured, are surging. Price hike slows down the demand of exporters,” said a rice trader engaged in Bayintnaung Wholesale Market.
Supply chain to the Bayintnaung Commodity Depot is interconnected with the production circle, transportation and FOB orders. Rice and broken rice from Bago, Ayeyawady and Mandalay regions primarily flow to the Bayintnaung Wholesale Market.
