PAKISTAN received US$4.25 billion in workers’ remittances in May 2026, registering a 15.4-per-cent increase year- on-year and a 20.2-per-cent rise from the previous month, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Wednesday. According to data released by the central bank, cumulative remittance inflows reached US$38.1 billion during the July-May period of fiscal year 2025-26, up 9.2 percent from US$34.9 billion recorded in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, with overseas Pakistanis sending US$1.03 billion in May. Remittances from the United Arab Emirates surged to US$1.01 billion in May, up 33 per cent year-on-year and 37 per cent month-onmonth.
