Myanma Railways stated that the Myitkyina-Mohnyin railway section is expected to be completed in July, helping reconnect railway networks in Kachin State.
At present, Myanma Railways operates train services only between Myitkyina and Mohnyin in Kachin State and is working to restore and expand railway operations on the route. The Myitkyina-Mohnyin railway section is scheduled for completion in July.
Once the railway line is completed, 1,300-horsepower and 2,000-horsepower locomotives will be used to operate train services between Mohnyin and Myitkyina.
Myanma Railways plans to use auto-coupler carriages for passenger services. The trains will consist of four ordinary passenger carriages, one upper-class passenger carriage, one freight carriage, and one brake carriage. The Moegaung-Mohnyin railway section is 52.25 miles long. Maintenance work has been completed on 39 miles of the section, and eight stations along the route have been completed. In addition, repairs to steel structures on the railway line have been completed, while work to repair bridge piers is ongoing. — ASH/MKKS
