Literature can be seen as a teacher that instructs and disciplines the human heart, as well as a close companion that guides and shapes one’s life. For young people who are still inexperienced in life, it is necessary, as preparation before facing the struggles of life, to seek out and gather as much knowledge as possible from literature.
When reading literature, it is also necessary to select works that are beneficial and that can provide nourishment for one’s heart, life, people, and country. Today, with the rapid growth of social media, it is clearly seen that harmful or “toxic” content is spreading widely from various sources. Therefore, young people need to learn to choose reading materials that can support the development of their lives and way of thinking by improving their intellect, and to discard toxic information from the content available on social media.
Today, various forms of social media are rapidly influencing society day after day. Due to the nature of media, its influence continues to expand, and in some cases, it also gains strength through the actions of individuals. As a result, the new generation of young people has gradually become more distant from books and literature and more closely connected to social media. Therefore, all young people must be aware that through social media, harmful news and toxic content can strongly damage and undermine the hearts and minds of the younger generation.
It is observed that among today’s youth, the habit of reading is becoming increasingly rare. In order to develop good reading habits, young people are encouraged to begin cultivating the regular practice of reading. As they read and study a wide range of beneficial literature, including fiction and non-fiction literary works, their own hearts and interests will naturally guide them in identifying the types of literature they prefer.
To be able to protect the motherland, young people are urged to start striving to improve themselves from this age onward. They should build a good life in companionship with knowledge and education, and in the course of their lives, take the good lessons from the many experiences they encounter while avoiding the bad ones. As such, they have to try hard to shape themselves to become future leaders who make their parents proud and are relied upon by the nation, equally capable and in step with the times.
