Enrolment in basic education schools began nationwide on 25 May 2026, and students are being admitted to basic education schools in several Yangon townships during school enrolment week. In collaboration with the headmistress and the ward administrator, grass and shrubs in front of Kanthaya 1 Basic Education Post-Primary School in Ward 4, Hmawby Township, were cleared yesterday morning.
Bushes and wild grass have proliferated along the entrance area, inside the school compound, and around the school toilets since the start of the rainy season. Vegetation must be removed due to the risk of insects such as mosquitoes and flies. In order to prevent the rainy season from adversely affecting the health of kindergarten and primary school students, bushes and trees around the school must continue to be cleared. During the school opening period, it is particularly important to maintain both the exterior and interior cleanliness of the school.
