The Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Monghsat District, Shan State (East), disbursed Green Village Project revolving funds in Kana Village, Monghsat Township, on 25 May to support the expansion of family income-generating businesses.
At the event, District Head of the Department of Rural Development U Sai Aung Myo Htet explained that the revolving funds were being provided to help rural residents gain the financial capital needed to expand their family businesses and to enable village development activities through the interest income generated by the project.
Following this, Township Project Officer U Sai Soe Htay and staff clarified the interest rates, repayment terms, and regulations related to the loan programme before formally transferring the revolving funds to members of the Green Village Project committee.
Under the supervision of district and township officials, project committee members then disbursed the third round of Green Village Project revolving funds totalling K33 million at low interest rates to 22 beneficiaries in Kana Village. The recipients included 16 agricultural workers, three livestock breeders, and three traders.
According to officials, the funds are intended to strengthen small-scale rural businesses and improve household incomes through sustainable community-based economic activities.
