A new LNG pipeline is to be built for a 1,390-megawatt LNG project, scheduled for completion in 2029, the Ayeyawady Regional government stated.
The 1,390-megawatt LNG project will cost about US$2.504 billion, and the project consortium includes Yunnan Provincial Energy Investment Group, Union Resource & Engineering, Supreme Trading, and Zhefu Holding Group.
In the future, natural gas produced by domestic offshore gas projects is expected to replace LNG imported from overseas. The nation’s energy security will be dramatically enhanced if these projects are completed, as the cost of LNG imports would be greatly reduced.
The MoU for the LNG project, which will generate 1,390 megawatts of electricity, was signed on 7 March 2016, the Letter of Intent was signed on 18 January 2020, and the Power Purchase Agreement was signed on 29 January 2021.
