THE Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that three cosmetic products are unfit for use, as they are not registered with the department and contain banned chemicals that can pose health risks.
Under the directive of the Ministry of Health, the FDA systematically regulates cosmetics to ensure the public has access to authentic, quality, and safe products. According to the Post-Marketing Alert System (PMAS) Report programme of ASEAN countries, three unsafe cosmetic products were identified across various ASEAN nations. The FDA has thus issued this notice for the public.
The three cosmetic products are: Glowing/Night Treatment (NA); Glowing Herbal Treatment (NA); and ROSE/ White & Natural Cream Moisturizer (NA). These banned chemicals can cause skin irritation, inflammation, white or red rashes, and can be absorbed through the skin — leading to numbness, muscle tremors, fatigue, headaches, and depression.
Long-term use can also result in kidney failure and other illnesses. Consequently, cosmetic market players are strictly urged to completely refrain from importing, distributing, or selling these unregistered cosmetics on an ethical basis.
The FDA has announced that failure to comply will result in legal action by relevant authorities under Section 3 (d) of the Public Health Law.
