THE Tanai Township Rural Development Department, under the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development, collaborated with the Township Agriculture Department to conduct an environmental awareness talk at Mongkhun Model Village in Tanai Township, Kachin State, on 17 May. The event aimed to educate rural residents on waste management systems, haze mitigation, and environmental conservation. During the talk, U Zaw Myo, Head of the Tanai Township Rural Development Department, discussed environmental conservation, haze reduction, and proper waste disposal. He also highlighted the health risks of air pollution and indoor pollution, including various infectious diseases, and explained preventive measures. Subsequently, U Nyi Nyi Htwe, Head of the Township Agriculture Department and staff gave lectures on the benefits of reducing plastic bag usage, different types of waste, and environmental care. Following the presentations, they replied to questions raised by attendees. The talk was attended by township-level departmental officials, village elders, and residents. Informative pamphlets were also distributed to the attendees during the talk.
