Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, accompanied by state ministers and state-level departmental officials, met local residents yesterday evening at Shwe Padauk Hall in Palana (1) Padauk Myaing Smart Village, located in the Palana village-tract of Myitkyina Township.
During the meeting, the chief minister, state ministers, and officials presented 100 bags of rice (24-pyi per bag) for 511 households in the smart village. They also donated 200 educational and fiction and non-fiction books to the village’s Smart Library, which was established under the Smart Village Project to enhance rural livelihoods. Additionally, they provided vinyl posters for the rural livelihood elevation fund and the Smart Village Project, along with materials supporting village waste management.
Following this, the Head of the Township Rural Development Department explained the work plans and activities being implemented under the Smart Village Project in Palana (1) Padauk Myaing Village. The chief minister provided the necessary assistance to facilitate these efforts.
Subsequently, the chief minister urged the residents, stating that the state government is making its utmost efforts to promote the development of the agriculture and livestock sectors by providing free seeds and disbursing loans through the State Economic Promotion Fund to improve the socioeconomic conditions of local people. He added that, due to the unity of the residents of Padauk Myaing Village, funds have been allocated and the implementation of the Smart Village Project is now underway.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister inspected the 18 ft × 27 ft Smart Library building completed under the Rural Development Department’s Smart Village Project, reviewed the procurement of educational and fiction books, periodicals, and library equipment funded under the project, and coordinated with departmental officials and village authorities to ensure the library’s sustainability, including the appointment of a librarian and the gradual improvement of reading habits and library facilities. — Kachin State IPRD/TH
