The Thihoshin Buddha Pujaniya Festival in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, will be held in May as usual, the festival trustees have announced.

The ancient Thihoshin Buddha Pujaniya Festival will be held for 16 days, from 23 May to 7 June. This year, the festival will also feature performances by the San Nay Moe and Kaung Sitt Hein theatrical drama troupes to entertain visitors.

“During the ancient pagoda festival, many shops and stalls will be opened by local sellers and traders from near and far, including those selling modern clothing, cooking utensils, local food and consumer goods, farm produce, children’s toys and bakery items.

In addition, children’s play areas and playgrounds will be set up to entertain pilgrims. The festival will host a lively entertainment programme from 28 to 31 May by the San Yay Moe Drama Troupe and from 3 to 7 June by the Kaung Sitt Hein Drama Troupe,” said U Tin Win, a member of the pagoda board of trustees.
