Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint received Russian Economic Counsellor Mr Andrei Iunak in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The two sides frankly discussed matters relating to enhancing cooperation between Myanmar and Russia in the tourism and cultural sectors, continuing the implementation of points mentioned in the MoU signed between the two countries, strengthening collaboration between the government and private sectors in promoting tourism and culture, increasing bilateral tourist flows, and developing human resources.
At noon, the Union minister met the relevant officials of the ministry to ensure the systematic implementation of measures for sustainable hotels and the tourism industry.
The Union minister heard the reports made by the deputy minister, the permanent secretary, the director-general and other relevant officials.
He emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the government and private sectors in implementing projects, and urged civil servants to strive in a balanced manner for the benefit of both the people and the country. He also stressed the importance of integrating modern technologies in line with the times to enhance operational efficiency, setting clear targets to attract more international tourists, promoting awareness of the true situation of Myanmar to the international community, advancing tourism education to create more job opportunities and develop human resources, and fostering an inclusive tourism industry.
