I RANIAN President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued an open letter to the American public, calling on them to look beyond the “machinery of misinformation” amid the ongoing US-Israeli war against his country.
Portraying Iran as a threat is “the product of political and economic whims of the powerful – the need to manufacture an enemy in order to justify pressure, maintain military dominance, sustain the arms industry, and control strategic markets”, he said.
“If a threat does not exist, it is invented.”
Throughout its modern history, Iran “has never chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination”, despite having endured occupation, invasion, and sustained pressure from global powers, he noted.
“The Iranian people harbour no enmity towards other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighbouring countries.”
The open letter was posted on X just hours before US President Donald Trump’s national address, in which he claimed “decisive, overwhelming victories” in the war. — Xinhua
