VIETNAM has set a target of establishing two renewable energy industry and service hubs by 2030 under the amended plan for implementing the international agreement Just Energy Transition Partnership, local media outlet VnEconomy reported Tuesday.
Renewable energy is expected to account for about 47 per cent of the Southeast Asian country’s total installed power capacity by 2030, while emissions from the power sector are projected not to exceed 170 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, the report said. By 2030, Vietnam also aims to finalize a policy and regulatory framework to attract investment in offshore wind, solar power and energy storage, while engaging with international partners.
