IN implementinga country’s development plans, lessons should be drawn from the strengths and weaknesses encountered over time, and practical, integrated measures should be taken so that the development objectives needed by the people are fully met and carefully achieved. During the five-year tenure under the current government, significant and visible progress has been achieved.
Notable improvements were made in areas such as road and transport networks, environmental conservation, cleanliness and beautification of towns and villages, alignment of urban features, and systematic management of waste. In the economic sector, small, micro, and medium-sized enterprises were supported with the necessary technology and financial assistance from their inception until they reached the market, ensuring their growth and long-term sustainability.
Even amid challenges, efforts were made to provide electricity as much as possible. Efforts have been expedited to ensure that everyone has access to education, that at least those who complete the KG+9 scheme can learn vocational and livelihood skills, and that youth can benefit from education, health, sports, and life-skills development, as well as participate effectively in the nation-building endeavours for the country’s future. At present, just as electric vehicles are already in use, electric-powered locomotives are also now able to operate.
The government has been taking responsibility to ensure sufficient domestic cooking oil supply since its assumption. However, due to various reasons, there are still unmet needs to achieve the intended targets and to ensure adequate domestic consumption. According to historical experience in various sectors, there remain weaknesses in formal education and technical training.
Skilled personnel in the agriculture and livestock sectors are still required. Efforts must be made to increase production in order to reduce commodity prices. Since the nation has had to take responsibility and act amid various difficulties, while some tasks can be accomplished, some areas still require coordination and collective effort to fully achieve the intended goals.
Trust between the government and the people must be firmly established, and efforts must continue in a united manner with strong discipline, dedication, and courage to strengthen political stability, economic development, national defence, national character, and patriotic spirit. On the changing path of global geopolitics and economic trends, the nation must continue to advance while prioritizing the national interest.
For the 2026-2027 financial year, projects of the national plan will be implemented in accordance with the agreements of the Hluttaws. Therefore, the new government must carry out these plans to fulfil the aspirations and expectations of all citizens and ensure that the intended goals are successfully achieved.
