A total of 11,233 domestic visitors flocked to the Shwethaungyan Beach in Pathein, Ayeyawady Region, in January 2026, according to an executive member of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (Shwethaungyan Beach).

The beach receives visitors year-round. There are more than 20 hotels and guest houses providing accommodation for tourists.

“Shwethaungyan Beach attracted 8,557 visitors in December 2025. Most of them were day trippers. There is an attractive destination, the Kyauk Maunghnama Elephant Camp, located near the beach. As the tourism season has now begun, we are preparing to ensure greater convenience for travellers in March and April,” said Daw Cherry Myint.

Hotels along the beach are providing services such as beachfront cleaning, landscaping and ground maintenance within their compounds, keeping pathways clean, carrying out general cleaning of the beach and public areas, and serving guests with local cuisine.

Additional tourist amenities include safety and relaxation facilities, rental services like bicycles, motorboats, and horse riding, and markets selling local specialities and souvenirs.

The Shwethaungyan Beach is situated near Pathein Township in Ayeyawady Region, about eight miles from Chaungtha Beach. The beach stretches for four miles and forms part of a coastal habitat that supports marine life, with rich natural resources and clean water.
