PETROVIETNAM’S Nhon Trach 3 and 4 plants officially began commercial operations.

Vietnam’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power complex officially began commercial operations earlier this week in southern Vietnam’s Dong Nai province, local media VnEconomy reported Friday.

The complex has a combined capacity of 1,624 megawatts and is expected to supply over nine billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually to the national grid, with a total investment of US$1.4 billion, the report said.

Under Vietnam’s revised National Power Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, LNG-fired power is projected to reach about 22 gigawatts by 2030, accounting for 9.5 to 12.3 per cent of total power capacity. — Xinhua
