Hearing the name George Soros, he was known as the founder of the Open Society Foundation, a provider of scholarships, and a creator of freedom of expression and freedom of worship. Whether he is truly acting as he claims is something only those who bother to scrutinize will see. There are instances where George Soros, when his own interests were at stake, manipulated and orchestrated changes in governments from behind the scenes. I have read news that he even interferes in the internal affairs of a large country like India. Why would he interfere in the internal politics of a major democratic country like India, which has become the world’s most populous nation? I will present what I have been able to research on this matter.
It has been reported in the news since early 2023 that the Hungarian-American so-called philanthropist, George Soros, has primarily targeted India’s ruling BJP party. News also widely emerged that he is providing support to opposition politicians and individuals critical of Prime Minister Modi with the intention of destabilizing India. Although the BJP, a party dominated by the Hindu majority, lost its majority vote in a decade, it still secured enough to form a coalition government. The BJP party stated that the U.S. State Department and George Soros are collaborating with the deliberate aim of weakening Prime Minister Modi.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders utilized a group of investigative journalists partially funded by the U.S. State Department and the George Soros Foundation. The BJP party posted on its Twitter account that this group even prepared them on how to ask questions primarily targeting Prime Modi, concerning the economy, security, and democracy. Citing a French news agency, the BJP party revealed that Soros’s Open Society Foundation and the U.S. State Department funded the emergence of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).
A BJP spokesperson stated at a press briefing that it is clear the deep state, which pulls the strings behind the U.S. government, has the intention of targeting Prime Minister Modi and destabilizing India. The spokesperson further added that the U.S. State Department is permanently behind this agenda, and the OCCRP was used as a media weapon to carry out the deep state’s agenda.
There are also news reports suggesting that supporting Pakistan and strengthening anti-Russia sentiments are Soros’s interests in India. George Soros also has a history of operating unlawfully in Hungary, Russia, Turkey, and Malaysia. It is even said that he promised up to one billion US dollars to effect a change of government in a nationally strong country like India. There is also criticism that Soros is trying to create chaos from street vendors to the stock market to disrupt Indian democracy. George Soros has also lied, claiming that India denies citizenship to millions of Muslims.
Smriti Irani, who formerly served as India’s Minister for Women and Child Development, posted on her Twitter that George Soros is shrewd regarding India’s democratic process. His main objective is to weaken India’s democratic system. He has also officially stated that he will protect his interests within India. Therefore, Prime Minister Modi has become his primary target.
George Soros also has his prominent media outlets in India. His Open Society Foundation has long provided support to some groups and individuals spreading misinformation about the current Indian government. A notable example is Basharat Peer, who served as an Open Society Fellow from 2009 to 2010, wrote articles favoring Pakistan and focusing on Kashmir. The International Fact-Checking Network of the Poynter Institute, criticized for biased and unfair reporting, is also an organization that received up to 1.3 billion US dollars from the Soros Foundation.
Furthermore, India’s current External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, has openly stated that George Soros is a dangerous individual based in New York and an external interferer in India’s internal affairs, reminiscent of what India experienced during the colonial era. He is a wealthy, elderly person who believes the entire world must operate and make decisions according to his views. Dr. S. Jaishankar plainly said that Soros is a dangerous individual who, under the mask of promoting an open society, is engaged in anti-India activities and disseminating misinformation about India. There are still people in the world who believe everything must happen according to their definitions, their preferences, and their perspectives. India is a country that practices democracy. However, Dr. Jaishankar also responded that George Soros seemingly does not consider Prime Minister Modi a democrat.
There have been news reports about connections between the Indian Congress and George Soros. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi’s mother, also attended the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific, which is believed to be funded by Soros. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal stated that it’s no surprise Soros, who is not an Indian citizen, wants to create instability in India. The Indian Congress also responded, saying no foreigner influences them and that this is the government’s attempt to divert attention.
Dr. S. Jaishankar also pointed out that India’s election results and voter turnout percentages across all three phases are record-breaking and undeniable. There are many accusations against the Indian government regarding citizenship, but Dr. Jaishankar responded that his (Soros’s) accusatory statements are meaningless. Dr. S. Jaishankar remarked that his accusations are nothing but scare tactics that worry the Indian people and, while not achieving much else, damage the dignity of Indian society.
George Soros providing scholarships and fellowships for Indian students is actually actively helping and establishing anti-India groups operating within India under the guise of philanthropy. George Soros also heavily funded and participated in the presidential campaigns of Obama and Hillary Clinton. He is a major funder for groups opposing the successful exit of Britain from the EU (Brexit). There have also been news reports that he attempted to make Germany leave the EU a few years earlier.
Now, in India, anti-Soros sentiments have reached from social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp to mainstream media like television channels. BJP spokespersons and party supporters are also targeting and responding to George Soros. Therefore, in India, from cities to villages, it is known that this person named George Soros is targeting India. However, people don’t yet know precisely who George Soros is. I recall a warning that an invisible enemy is more frightening than a visible one. Whatever Soros says about India, it’s certain he doesn’t love India as much as Prime Minister Modi does.
It has now become known that he employs tactics such as interfering in countries’ internal politics for self-interest under the philanthropic mask, attempting to change governments that don’t suit his interests, spreading misinformation through the NGOs, research groups, and media he funds, approaching through Members of Parliament, and placing his own agents. These methods will undoubtedly continue to be used. I am excerpting and presenting this to raise awareness that a person like George Soros, who seeks personal interests under a philanthropic mask, can cause harm and loss to nations and their people.
