The second day of the 2025 International Intellectual Property Conference continued yesterday at the Dokhtawadi, Kissapanadi and Ayeyawady Halls of Jasmine Naypyitaw Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn and Deputy Minister U Min Min attended the event and presented honorary awards. Directors-General, officials from relevant ministries, intellectual property experts from local and international institutions, rectors, professors, postgraduate students, legal practitioners, entrepreneurs and paper presenters also attended the sessions.

At Dokhtawadi Hall, discussions included trademark rights, geographical indications and registration procedures for IP representatives. Sessions at Kissapanadi Hall focused on IP development across sectors, patent-related issues, and challenges related to artificial intelligence technologies. Meanwhile, at Ayeyawady Hall, topics covered include industrial design rights, the role of small and medium enterprises in IP, ownership and transfer of IP rights and protection of new plant varieties.

Each paper was presented by the respective experts, followed by interactive questions and answers and discussions with attendees.

The conference aims to promote innovation, contribute to economic development and raise awareness about the vital role of intellectual property in preserving Myanmar’s cultural heritage.
