THE Myanmar Press Council organized a ceremony to commemorate World Press Freedom Day, which falls on 3 May, at 10 am yesterday at the Myanmar Press Council office on Merchant Street, Yangon.
Myanmar Press Council Chair Dr Tin Htun Oo read a message from the Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, and delivered an opening speech on World Press Freedom Day.
Next, Myanmar Press Council First Vice-Chair U Khin Maung Zaw and Second Vice-Chair U Khin Maung Kyaw Din discussed issues related to press freedom.
Following this, the participants engaged in a discussion about press freedom, and Joint Secretary 2 U Ye Min Soe spoke words of thanks. The event then came to a close. — Aung Myint (IPRD)/ MKKS
