IN Yangon’s property rent market, customer interests have expressed in houses and lower-floor apartments, according to estate agents. Real estate rental has constantly risen at present due to increase in home moving and displaced people, and the rent market has begun larger after Thingyan festival, said an estate agent. “There are many interests in house rent. Most of customers prefer lower-floor apartments. People moved from other regions and states are also interested in houses with land. But young people rent higher-floor apartment to live together with friends. Now it is post-Thingyan period and monsoon will arrive soon, so the property rents have increased,” he said. With increase in property rent, prices have been high too. It is now difficult to find apartments which are rented by monthly payment but most are by deposit or six-month contract. “We sought a lower-priced apartment because my fami ly has old people but the rent prices are too expensive. And three-month or four-month rent is difficult to find and most are six-month rent and monthly payment with deposit. Prices are high depending on location,” said a woman.
