THE government, in collaboration with international partners, has successfully uncovered and detained a further 200 foreign nationals involved in illegal activities such as online gambling and telecom fraud.

These individuals had crossed into Myanmar through border routes including Myawady Township, Shwe Kokko, KK Park area and Mehtawthale in Kayin State, where they were involved in criminal activities.

The authorities have been investigating and gathering information about these foreign nationals and their details and records are being collected for proper repatriation to their home countries under international laws and procedures. The effort involves coordinated actions by relevant departments to ensure smooth transfers.

Minister of Security and Border Affairs of the Kayin State government Col Min Thu Kyaw, along with other authorities ensures that the repatriation process is being carried out efficiently and the necessary actions are being taken to resolve outstanding cases.

As of 26 February 2025, Myanmar has detained a total of 2,738 foreign nationals who had illegally entered the country since 30 January 2025. Among them, 673 individuals have already been successfully repatriated to their respective countries via Thailand, while 2,065 individuals remain ready for swift transfer. All detainees receive proper care until repatriation completion.
