MYANMAR’S authorities detained 250 illegal foreign nationals who had entered Myawady, Shwe Kokko, and KK Park areas through unauthorized routes yesterday as the government continues to crack down on illegal online gambling, telecom fraud and other crimes in border areas.
Officials are working with relevant agencies to collect personal information and records of these individuals for prompt repatriation. Between 30 January and 19 February 2025, authorities have identified and detained a total of 1,553 illegal foreign nationals in Myanmar.
The state government remains committed to eliminating online fraud, online gambling and other cyber crimes in border regions that threaten national security and public safety. With cooperation from international organizations and the public, authorities are enforcing strict measures to suppress these crimes under the law. Regional governments are also actively identifying and taking action against illegal online gambling and financial fraud operations to prevent their presence within the country.
