MYANMAR won two awards at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025 held in Johor, Malaysia in January, the Shan State Government said.

Myanmar entered three categories in the competition: Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in Seekyain Village, Pindaya Township, Jasmine Spa at Jasmine Taunggyi Hotel and the Public Toilet at Culamuni Pagoda, Taunggyi Township.

The two awards received were the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award and the ASEAN Public Toilet Award.

The Shan State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in Taunggyi selected the businesses that most closely conformed to ASEAN standards for submission and announced two awards on 20 January. They can attend the ceremony at their own expense, or the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism delegation will receive and send the awards to Shan State, it said.

At the ATF -2024 in Vientiane, Laos, the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards were presented, with Myanmar winning five ASEAN Green Hotel Awards, three ASEAN MICE Venue Standard Awards (Meeting Room), two ASEAN MICE Venue Standard Award (Exhibition Venue), three ASEAN MICE Venue Standard Award (Event Venue), one ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award and ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award for Kengtung and Pathein.
