SECURITY forces have been conducting arrests on the pretext of examining guest registration at various men’s hostels in downtown Yangon.

On the night of 16 January, they entered and inspected a hostel in the city centre and arrested those who were unable to pay fines. Reports from malicious media outlets are spreading false information about the incident.

According to a statement from a local security officer, the security forces have not been involved in any unlawful arrests or extortion. The security teams are solely conducting searches and investigations following established protocols to prevent illegal activities, including insurgents attempting to enter the area and carry out sabotage. Due to the continued day-and-night investigations by the security teams, insurgents have faced difficulties in moving freely within the region.

It has been revealed that the malicious media, which supports these insurgents, is deliberately spreading misleading reports to confuse the public and create negative perceptions of the security forces. These reports do not reflect the actual events and are intended to mislead the public and misrepresent the actions of the security forces.
