On 19 January, the Tatmadaw mobile hospital ship, Thanlwin, arrived in Kyunsu, Kyunsu Township, Taninthayi Region, carrying a team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and specialists.
The medical team was warmly welcomed by local officials, department heads, community leaders, teachers, and students upon their arrival. The team set up their operations at the General Administration Office in Kyunsu and began providing healthcare services to 796 residents from the town and nearby villages.
Among those treated were 293 patients with general medical conditions, 27 requiring surgery, 53 with obstetrics or gynaecological issues, 36 children with various diseases, 95 with orthopaedic illnesses, 56 with ear, nose, and throat conditions, 189 with eye problems, and 47 with dental or oral issues. The team provided the necessary treatments for these individuals.
In addition, the team treated six patients requiring general surgery, 23 eye surgery patients, 25 radiation therapy patients, 25 individuals undergoing experimental ultrasound treatments, 23 patients who had ECG heart tests, and 71 who received diagnostic laboratory tests. Four patients requiring further care were transferred to nearby Tatmadaw hospitals for additional treatment.
Local Tatmadaw officials visited the site to observe the healthcare activities, offer support, coordinate logistical needs, and provide encouragement to the residents receiving medical care.
