Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 28 December, the combined teams impounded 0.180 tonne of illegal teak, 0.050 tonne of hardwood and 2.51 tonnes of other timbers worth K261,080 in Taungdwingyi Township, 2.8 tonnes of illegal charcoal, 2.78 tonnes of teak and 10.243 tonnes of other timbers (valued at K817,353) in Lewe District. The action was conducted under the Forest Law.

Similarly, on 1 and 2 January 2025, the combined on-duty teams nabbed a Nissan Condor truck (worth approximately K30 million) carrying industrial materials worth K15.75 million without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, and 11.84 tonnes of illegal charcoal and 5.896 tonnes of illegal teak worth K4.36 million in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady Districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported eighth arrests on 28 December

2024 and 1 and 2 January 2025, confiscating illegal goods worth approximately K51.18 million.
