Deep Depression

According to the observations at (17:30) hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved slowly north-northeastwards. It is centred at about 715 nautical miles west-southwest of CoCo Island (Myanmar), 255 Nautical miles south-southeast of Chennai (India). The centre pressure of Deep Depression is 999 hPa and maximum wind speed near the centre is 35-40 miles per hour.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Deep Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Forecast

It is likely to move nearly northwards and may cross near Sri Lanka Coast during next 12 hours and further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and may cross North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry Coasts (India) as a Deep Depression around of 30 November 2024.

Due to the Deep Depression, rain are likely to be isolated to scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, and Ayeyawady Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, and Kayah States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls from tonight up to 30 November 2024.
