The 21st ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting Responsible for Information (SOMRI) and related meetings are being held from 19 to 22 November in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. A Myanmar delegation, led by Permanent Secretary U Win Kyaw Aung from the Ministy of Information, attended the event.

On the morning of 18 November, a ministerial dialogue on technology development, artificial intelligence, and virtual assistants was held at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Ha Long. The event was attended by Mr Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam, ASEAN officials, members from ASEAN Information and Communication sectors, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General U San Lwin, officials from the ASEAN Secretary-General office, and representatives from ASEAN partner associations including ITU, AIBD, and UNESCO.

During the meeting, Permanent Secretary U Win Kyaw Aung discussed the Ministry of Information’s initiatives to develop artificial intelligence and programmes aimed at enhancing technical know-how, promoting discussions, and offering training to uplift community capabilities.

The 21st SOMRI continues under the theme “Media: From Information to Knowledge for a Resilient and Responsive ASEAN”.
