ACCORDING to U Soe Win, secretary of the bridge maintenance team, Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake in Mandalay Region attracted over 100,000 visitors, both local and international, during the Thadingyut holiday. This popular destination draws many tourists from Myanmar and abroad, especially from Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea.

“This year has seen more visitors than usual, partly because the holiday fell on a weekend, encouraging more people to travel from nearby and distant locations. With the lake full of water, many people come to Taungthaman Bridge to enjoy the beautiful evening views. In the evenings, there are also many boat riders. The recreation camp at Taungthaman’s Madhuca plain has become a popular spot for those looking to relax. During weekends, we see between 50,000 and 100,000 visitors, and over 100,000 people come to enjoy the full moon,” said U Soe Win.

Travellers from Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi, and Yangon frequently visit the area, adding to the influx of international tourists.
