ACCORDING to the observations at 17:30 hours MST today, the low pressure cell over the North Andaman Sea still persists. It is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area over the eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea next 24 hours. Thereafter it is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression around 22 October 2024 and into a Cyclonic storm around 23 October 2024.
Due to the low-pressure cell and which may form low-pressure area, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespread to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing. Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon states with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls, isolated heavyfalls and strong winds from today night up to 24 October 2024.
Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 miles per hour. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

People should be aware the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
