Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illicit trade continue effectively by the law.
On 15 October, combined teams managed by the Customs Department impounded four types of industrial materials and consumer goods worth K1.628 billion, which were without official documents, from 13 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint. Additionally, they seized industrial materials valued at K44.44 million, also without official documents, at Yangon International Airport. The action was taken by Customs procedures.
Similarly, on 18 October, the combined teams supervised by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections, resulting in the seizure of 11 unregistered vehicles valued at approximately K126 million in Bago and DaikU Townships, as well as illegal teak weighing 9.934 tonnes, worth K4.689 million, in Toungoo District. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 17 arrests on 17 and 18 October, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods valued at approximately K1.803 billion.
