THERE is a lot of interest from Myanmar tourists to Bodh Gaya, India, in attending the opening ceremony of the reliquary of sacred relics in Varanasi in November.

It will be held for three days, starting one day before the full moon of Tazaungmone and ending one day after the full moon.

“Those who will go to Bodh Gaya are also going to the opening of the sacred relics’ reliquary in Varanasi in November. There are fewer people than last year. The opening of the reliquary will start one day before the full moon of Tazaungmone and end one day after the full moon. Many people are interested in going there. Last year, there were four flights a week. This year, there are only two flights a week.” said an official from the Dhamma Alin Bodh Gaya Pilgrim Service Group.

Last December 2023, more than ten thousand Myanmar outbound tourists went on a pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya in India, according to a local travel agency.

Bodh Gaya is located in Bihar state of India, and it has been governed by the Central Government of India through an administrative body since 28 May 1953, under the Bodh Gaya Temple Act of 1949.

In addition, the Indian government has spent a lot of money on refurbishing religious buildings. In the pilgrimage tour, trips to Bodh Gaya, Varanasi (aka) Sarnath, Ganges River, Kaushambi, Sankissa, Agra (Taj Mahal and Red Fort), New Delhi, vault of sacred relics, Akshardham Temple, Shravasti, Kapilavastu, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Vaishali, Patna, Rajghur and Nalanda.
